This morning I decided to look up the ADA (Australian Dental Association) website to check if there was any updated news about the Child Dental Benefit Scheme which is through Medicare. If you are not aware of the CDBS it allows eligible Children to receive $1000 towards there Dental care to be used at private dental surgeries over 2 years, which is a great benefit, not only towards the care of their teeth but it also gets children used to visiting the dentist more regularly.
Unfortunately it seems that this benefit may likely end on the 31 st of December of this Year, it seems it will be replaced with the Child and adult public dental scheme. This new scheme if passed will provide services to children and Adult concession card holders, it is not yet determined if this plan will be more beneficial or not, I suppose we just have to wait and see, I will definitely keep you updated.
The ADA is urging practices to contact patients who can currently use the CDBS to make appointment’s prior to the closure of the CDBS. So please if your Child has the $1000 don’t hesitate to contact a Dental surgery and make those important appointments.
