Brushing your teeth is a very important part of your oral care. Besides getting a professional clean done at the Dentist at least every 6 months, you still need to maintain your teeth with correct brushing techniques. Question is, are you brushing your teeth properly?

A lot of people actually don’t know how to brush their teeth correctly which means plaque still remains after each brush. I have a few steps to help you improve your brushing techniques.

1 TOOLS
You need to get Toothpaste, Toothbrush and Floss that suits you or has been recommended by your Dentist.

2 BRUSH TEETH IN CIRCLES
Brushing back and forth is usually the way a lot of people brush their teeth but you actually need to brush in a circular motion. Using this method at a 45 degree angle is better as you are able to clean your gums as well.

3 CLEANING INNER SURFACES
When step 2 is done you need to move on to cleaning hard to reach areas like gaps between teeth, behind rear teeth etc. Use back and forth motion for these parts.

4 TONGUE
After step 1, 2 and 3 you should clean your tongue with your toothbrush.

5 RINSE
Once the above steps are done rinse with water or mouthwash.

These steps should take you at 3 minutes or longer no less.

I hope these steps are easy to follow and helpful. Please keep in mind that this needs to be done twice a day, along with flossing at least once a day. If you need a demonstration our Dentist are happy to assist in showing you techniques.
